Theo Kandel, Lunch
On a sunny afternoon in February 2024, we gathered in a backyard in LA to film musician Theo Kandel performing his single, Lunch, from his debut album, Eating & Drinking & Being In Love. These are analog outakes from the afternoon, where I photographed the moments in between, wanting to capture the easy kind of love evoked in the album’s lyrics.

New Yorkers spanning three generations in an apartment they’ve called home since the 60s, an eclectic artisan with a passion for expressing individuality through custom hats, to a sweaty summer soccer practice in the park. The sweet details of environmental portraits give you a glimpse into what a person cares about, how they live, how they work — the threads that give clues to who they are.
